2 Corinthians 5:9 Our only goal is to please God whether we live here or there
This verse has become part of who I am. My name is Kristyn Concepción. I’m an 18 year old Hoosier from Indianapolis. I graduated, with a class of five, from Sojourn Academy in San José, Costa Rica last year. From there, I lived in Honduras. Now, I live in Georgia. After that, who knows! God always has a plan, but I don’t always know what it is.
About three years ago, my parents became missionaries. Since that time, my life has drastically changed in ways I never could have imagined. Not only did I go from a public high school of 2000+ students to a private school of 20 high schoolers, I also learned what it is like to follow the will of God wherever it may take me. His plans are greater than any I could have ever come up with.
I spent all last [school] year living in Costa Rica and meeting people from all over the world. While in Costa Rica, I completed both my Junior and Senior year classes, helped teach English as a Second Language, and helped plan events and parties for my school and youth group. When I found a spare moment, I was hanging out with friends or caring for younger missionary kids.
In August 2006, my parents, two sisters, and I all moved to our final goal as missionaries: Balfate, a poor town on the north coast of Honduras. Honduras is very different from Costa Rica and everywhere else I have ever lived, but still I am at peace in knowing it is where God wants my family. My dad is now working in the lab of Hospital Loma de Luz, while my mom and sisters figure out home schooling for the first time. I, on the other hand, am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me in my year off before college. The Lord has since placed Radical Action Disciples on my heart. Although it was not the type of place I had planned to go, I have put my trust and Him and have stepped into this nine-month, Christian leadership program. My hope is that through growing closer to the Lord, I will also come closer to knowing his plan for my life in the near future.
I am the type of person who loves anything new and exciting, excluding food, of course! Traveling is my passion. I love to experience new cultures and ways of life. By traveling, I am able to relate to more people and see how God impacts lives around the world. While thrills and adventures keep me going, I find the greatest thrill in living my life for God. While I do not know exactly what I want to be, I feel the Lord leading me to inner-city ministry with teens. I have a passion for the lost. My goal is not only to teach people about God through my words and actions but also teach them who God is. The past few years have really affected who I am today and have taught me a lot about life and also a lot about God. I am really looking forward to spending my college years serving the Lord wherever He may send me. Where the Lord leads, I will follow.
