During all this time the Holy Spirit has been with me. He has been teaching me to hear Him. These times that He has been speaking to me, I have begun to realize some things about how I have heard Him in the past. When He has spoken before, He has never demanded. He asks and gently suggests. His voice is so soft that I can (and have) easily shoved Him off as just a random thought. If I tell Him no He goes away. He never pushes. The enemy on the other hand, stands in front of me and yells. He stands beside me and pushes. He pulls. He insists. He doesn’t leave me alone. But the Spirit, even though He is not loud, is never gone. He waits for me. I have realized that He gives me the freedom to choose every time. Here in this program, I have the freedom to choose what will happen. Will I give my will to Him and let Him dig through the territory of my heart, no matter how painful? Or will I push Him to the side as another random thought in the chaos of existing? One tremendously powerful thing about being out in the woods away from it all is that the other noises are so much less. It is a lot easier for Him to get my attention. The element of surprise in RAD has also taught me in a great way. In everyday life, we all live in the future. We live for our plans and what will happen tomorrow. We exist for the future. In doing so we are robbed of today. The only thing I have as I am writing you is this moment that I am living in. Not knowing what will happen in the next five is a priceless gift. The only thing that can dominate my mind is what I am doing right now, and I am blessed with the opportunity to devote my whole being to becoming a follower of Jesus. Pray for me that I don’t waste this moment or the next one.
Daniel 10:12 Then he said unto me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.”
